A memorable event for our Institution about many years down the lane; about which an article was published in leading Malayalam daily - Malayala Manorama and how it turned memorable...

“Mandakkad, an part of old Southern Travancore” where massive Tsunami waves swallowed the shallow shores the Abhaya volunteers had reached for rescue operations.

From the scattered skeletons of a shattered small house on the coast they brought a treasure.

Soaked, soiled and we they got it; a notebook with a blue cover

From the soiled first page I figured out its owner’s name in smudged ink and then notes on pages jotted in English and more in Tamil, some calculations, figures all soaked and smudged.

G. Manikandan

3rd Electronics and Computer

We got help to get this published on newspaper and miraculously was able to trace lost Manikandan. He was saved from the waves and was in some shelter in Nagercoil. He was brought to here and whole heartedly everyone welcomed Manikandan and had the Legendary poet Sugathakumari gave him his blue covered notebook that helped to find him.

Abhaya extended all support to complete his Engineering degree from Anna University and also a computer course at Trivandrum after which he got a job in Chennai

Escaped from the black Sunday of Tsunami Manikandan and his family has revived and today he works as an engineer at Technopark
